Generously sponsored by The Early Music Shop, every level from beginner to accomplished performer is catered for. This year there are two competitions for recorder ensembles, one for less experienced players and one for those of Grade 5 standard and above. The recorder competitions will be on Monday 27th April.
Recorder players can also enter the Premier Challenge Woodwind Competition. See also Instrumental Chamber Music – Wind and Mixed Groups and Large Instrumental Ensembles and Orchestras for opportunities for chamber ensembles and orchestras.
All the recorder classes will be held at Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church, Central Square, NW11 7AG
Official Accompanists
For every day of competitions for which an accompanist is required, we appoint an official accompanist. Competitors do not have to use this accompanist, but if they wish to do so, they should tick the relevant box on the entry form.
If you request to use an official accompanist, the section head will send you that person’s contact details and the fees that you would need to pay together with the information about the day of the competition. The same fees are are payable for all the festival accompanists. As we need to appoint an official accompanist for about 30 days of competitions, different people will be appointed for different days.
Prizes and Certificates
There are gift vouchers, donated by the Early Music Shop, and trophies to be won. In all competitions, there are gold, silver and bronze medals to be won, and every competitor will receive a written adjudication sheet and certificate of participation.
