In November 2020 we will turn 100 years old. We launched our celebrations with a ‘Countdown to 100 years’ concert last month (final line-up pictured below). It was a fantastic night, with some exceptional performances. We’ll be releasing clips and recordings on our social media throughout the year, so make sure you are following us on Facebook and Twitter to see them.
So onto 2020! We are relaunching our wind, brass and guitar sections and introducing a second chamber music day focusing on wind groups to complement the existing one that focuses on string groups. We have reinvigorated our choir competitions and added more non-competitive ‘classes’ as well as offering more performance opportunities to our prize-winners. Look out for an impressive line up of adjudicators. The syllabus will be on the website shortly, with the printed version to follow.
Celebrate the Festival’s Centenary!
We are launching two competitions to celebrate the centenary:
- Compose a fanfare to celebrate the Festival’s centenary – for details see the composition page
- Write a poem to celebrate the Festival’s centenary – for details see the speech and drama page
More details will be added to this page as our planning progresses for both the concert and the festival.
