Composition Section

This new section aims to stimulate young composers by giving them an opportunity to hear their works performed in public and to get expert feedback on them. It also gives GCSE and AS level studnts the chance to give their works an airing before they are finally submitted to the examiners. Perfomances at the Festival can be either live or electronic/pre-recorded, and Alison Cox (Head of Music at the Purcell School) will always be on tap to provide any help or guidance that may be needed. Contact her direct for ideas, guidelines and encouragement to get you started.

Prizes and Certificates

Selected winners will be invited to give a live performance of their piece at The Purcell School Composers' Concert in July 2009. Outstanding entries may also be chosen for performace before a large audience at the Prizewinners' Concert on 21 May 2009 and even as part of a public lunch time concert at the Bishopsgate Institute London EC2. Every entrant will receive a written appraisal of their work, with medals and composition books for the winners.
